Originally, the project included the XRUHAKXS cables. However, it turned out that the TUBULAR™TUB-AX cables have higher prolonged current carrying capacity of the power conductor, smaller bend radius, lower weight and longer life than the XRUHAKXS cables. Additionally, better cooling of both the power conductor and the return conductor enables the transfer of higher currents over a longer time frame.
Optimisation
Initially, the project included the XRUHAKXS 12/20 kV cables. After detailed calculations and comparison of the data sheets, the designers quickly realised that the TUBULAR™TUB-AX cables have higher prolonged current carrying capacity of the power conductor compared to the XRUHAKXS cables but also greater one-second short-circuit current rating of the return conductor. Additionally, the cables were approved by TAURON POLSKA ENERGIA.
